UAE residents to enjoy visa-free entry to Armenia from July 1
Applies to all GCC residents with valid permits over six months
DUBAI: Armenia has announced a new visa-free travel policy for UAE residents, set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
This move allows travellers holding valid UAE residency permits to enter Armenia without a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Until now, only UAE nationals enjoyed visa-free access, while residents had to obtain a visa on arrival.
This development marks a significant shift in regional travel dynamics and aims to promote deeper ties between Armenia and Gulf nations.
GCC-wide policy
The visa exemption will apply to passport holders from all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar – provided they have residency permits valid for at least six months.
Armenia’s Tourism Committee stated the policy will broaden travel access for a substantial portion of the GCC expatriate population.
The decision was finalised at a recent Armenian cabinet meeting and is part of the country’s wider strategy to increase connectivity with key economic regions. The exemption also applies to residents of the European Union, Schengen Area, and the United States, provided their permits meet the six-month validity requirement.

Armenia is just a three-hour flight from the UAE, making it an appealing choice for short holidays. Direct flights operate regularly from Dubai and Sharjah via flydubai, Air Arabia, and Wizz Air. Known for its scenic landscapes, ancient monasteries, and vibrant culinary offerings, Armenia has become increasingly popular among UAE expatriates.
Armenia introduced visa-free travel for UAE citizens in 2017, followed by Qatar in 2019 and Kuwait in 2022.
